Money Line Pick
ATL Braves Win(-120)

On no rest, the Braves flew from Atlanta to Arizona after a matinee game on Wednesday and absolutely destroyed the Diamondbacks in their home park 17-2 on Thursday. Matt Olson led the way with 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBIs, 1 HR and 1 BB in his 5 at bats, while 3 other Braves homered and a total of 5 had multi-hit games. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks were confined to just 6 hits.

Friday’s matchup pits Grant Holmes and Eduardo Rodriguez. Holmes had an excellent spring, but he started the year in forgettable fashion — surrendering 3 earned runs on 5 hits in 5.0 innings against the Royals. Rodriguez was much better against better competition, holding the Dodgers to 0 earned runs and 4 hits with 5 strikeouts in Los Angeles on Saturday. Neither pitcher earned a win in those starts, and both are looking to change that on Friday.

The Braves have been crushing lefties to start the season, boasting a .286 batting average with a .476 slugging percentage — which both rank top 5 in the MLB. Meanwhile, the Snakes have left a little to be desired against right-handed pitchers with their .228 batting average. Arizona saw Holmes early last season, and Holmes gave up 6 earned runs on 5 hits in 5.2 innings. However, a vast majority of that damage was done by Eugenio Squarez — who is no longer in Arizona. Look for Holmes to have more success this time around and lead Atlanta to another road win.
