A 7.5 game total is too low for a game started by Spencer Strider in his current form. The right-hander did toss 7 innings of 1-run ball in his last start, but August was still a rough month for him. In 18.2 innings of work during the month he allowed 21 earned runs with 32 hits allowed. Among those 32 hits surrendered 7 were home runs. Until he can control the long ball and explosive innings for more than 1 start, I am hesitant to trust him, especially against a quality lineup.

Colin Rea is a decent rotational pitcher for the Cubs but his production is nothing that is unstoppable for opposing lineups. The Braves have had a disappointing season considering their expectations, but they are still more than capable of producing against mid-tier starters. Atlanta is a candidate to bounce back in 2026, but for now I think today’s game total is too low.
