I favor the over on the posted game total for Saturday’s matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers. Joey Wentz is set to start this game for the Braves, marking his 12th appearance with his team after pitching with the Pirates and Twins to begin the season. Wentz is not an arm I trust either out of the bullpen or in a starting rotation, and this is especially true when facing a playoff caliber lineup. The southpaw hurler has a 5.56 ERA in his 89 combined innings this season and in 10.1 innings this month that mark jumps to 10.45.

Keider Montero has allowed just 2 earned runs in his 10 innings pitched this month, and to be fair to the right-hander, he has outperformed my personal expectations in 2025. While this is all true, I still do not fully trust Montero to prevent runs, and even if he is solid in his outing the Tigers have not allowed him to work overly deep into games this season. I feel the total is too low for 2 starters with question marks and I lean towards the over.
