Braves vs Giants Pickswise Expert Predictions
Spencer Strider of the Atlanta Braves is clearly not the same in his current form, but I do expect a solid outing from the right-hander today in a pitcher-friendly park on the road. The San Francisco Giants have been better offensively when in their home park this season, striking out at a lower rate, but I still think Strider will regain his form as the innings continue to pile up and he shakes off his rust. With his decreased velocity his location becomes even more crucial for success, and I look forward to seeing him in this matchup. The Braves’ bullpen has blown several games of late, but they are well rested for this game.
Landen Roupp is pitching very well for the Giants, allowing 2, 2, 0, 0, 1 and 0 earned runs in his last 6 starts. Those 6 outings have combined for 32.1 innings of work with 26 strikeouts to only 8 walks issued. He has allowed no more than 5 hits in any of those starts and now gets to pitch in his home park, where he holds a 1.64 ERA this season. Atlanta is a tough offense, but it is a unit that Roupp is capable of dealing with when in his current form. I favor the under in this matchup on Sunday.
