I lean towards the under on the posted game total in Wednesday’s matchup between the Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies. Trevor Rogers was acquired by Baltimore during the 2024 trade deadline in return for a package headlined by Kyle Stowers. It was a hefty price for Baltimore to pay, and Miami is clearly happy with their return, but Rogers has had a nice bounce back season in 2025. The southpaw hurler has posted a 1.44 ERA and 0.75 WHIP through his first 9 starts of the season, spanning a combined 56.1 innings of work. This includes 15 innings of 1-run ball against the Rockies and Cubs in his last 2 starts.
Ranger Suarez has seen a recent dip in his already low velocity, and that is something that worries me over the course of the rest of the season. Ranger is already someone who pitches with finesse, but a dip in velo mid-season could signal potential fatigue or even injury. While his velocity has dropped, his last 2 starts have still been effective with 12.2 innings allowing 4 earned runs against the Yankees and Tigers. Now Ranger faces a Baltimore lineup that has been weaker against southpaw pitching this season and has traded several pieces at the trade deadline.
Baltimore Orioles vs Philadelphia Phillies prediction: Under 8 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
