Red Sox vs Rays Pickswise Expert Predictions
Saturday’s matchup between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays is an interesting spot on paper. Kyle Harrison is set to make his 2nd appearance and first start as a member of the Red Sox following the mid-season trade involving Rafael Devers to the Giants. Harrison is a wildly talented pitcher who was highly regarded as a prospect in the San Francisco farm system. While inconsistent, Harrison made contributions for the Giants major league club and is now set to do the same for Boston as they approach postseason play. Harrison may not work overly deep into this ballgame as they increase his workload, but he is my preferred pitcher when in the game.
Adrian Houser is set to start this game for the Rays. Houser was acquired at the trade deadline from the Chicago White Sox after outperforming his contract on a poor team. He has been less effective with the Rays, posting a 4.67 ERA in his first 8 starts spanning 44.1 innings of work with his new club. Still a veteran presence on the mound, Houser was fortunate to start his season well and get out of Chicago, but I am not a fan of his matchup with the Red Sox today. Look for Boston to provide enough run support for their pitching staff to secure the win.
