I favor the Chicago Cubs over the Atlanta Braves as the teams square off Tuesday evening. Spencer Strider and Cade Horton are the projected starting pitchers for this matchup, each slated to face their opposing lineup for the 2nd time within a week’s span. While I don’t love backing starting pitchers in close proximity rematches often, having both starters in the same situation mitigates that concern. Horton was sharp on the 3rd of this month with 5 scoreless frames including 6 strikeouts against this Braves lineup. Horton has pitched well overall of late, allowing no more than 2 earned runs in any outing since mid-July.

Strider walked 3 Cubs and allowed a home run in his 5 innings of work, ending in 3 earned runs allowed and a loss on 9/1. The right-hander has not enjoyed the same level of success in 2025 that he did when entering the league and given current form Strider is someone I am willing to bet against. In 101.1 innings this season the righty has posted a 4.97 ERA with 18 home runs and 41 walks allowed. At current pricing I find some value on Chicago in this game.
