Cubs vs Tigers Pickswise Expert Predictions
Tarik Skubal delivered another dominant performance on Friday night to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 win over the Cubs. Chicago found little success against the reigning American League Cy Young winner, as Skubal tossed 7.2 innings of 1-run ball while striking out 6. It was a tough night for Chicago’s offense, but the Cubs should be able to put together a better performance against Keider Montero on Saturday afternoon. After an opener, Montero is expected to get the bulk of the innings on the mound for Detroit. The 24-year-old right-hander is still adjusting to life at the big league level, and while he has looked sharp in his last 2 outings, opponents are hitting a strong .277 against him so far this season.
The Cubs will send veteran right-hander Jameson Taillon to the mound. Taillon has struggled away from Wrigley Field this season, as his ERA goes from 2.70 at home to 4.96 on the road. In addition, his BAA goes from .182 to .256. Detroit has a well-rounded lineup that could be able to give him some problems. All in all, these are two strong offensive teams that seem to be in favorable matchups at the plate. After a low-scoring affair on Friday night, look for this one to go over the total.
