Despite the loss, the Cubs are playing good baseball right now and have won 8 of their last 11 games. They’ll send Colin Rea to the mound on Wednesday night looking to get back into the win column. Despite issuing a season-high 5 walks in his last outing, Rea earned his 10th win of the season by allowing just 2 earned runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings against the Brewers. Rea has just 38 walks in 127.1 innings this season, so it would be a bit surprising to see him struggle to find the strike zone again in this one.

It would be advantageous for Rea to attack the strike zone going up against San Francisco’s offense. The Giants have scored the third-fewest total runs in the National League this season, and their team batting average of .230 in August ranks 24th in the league. Chicago’s potent lineup should be able to give Rea plenty of support, as San Francisco starter Carson Whisenhunt will be making just his 5th MLB start.
