Chicago White Sox vs Atlanta Braves Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/19/25

It’s much too little and too late, but the Atlanta Braves have been playing good baseball lately. They entered Monday’s interleague series opener against the Chicago White Sox with five straight wins, but the visitors weren’t fazed. Chicago picked up a wild 13-9 win, cashing as heavy underdogs, with the Over (9) essentially being hit by each team. The White Sox snapped a four-game losing streak, while Chicago won for just the first time in eight tries on the road.

Chicago turns to RHP Shane Smith (3-7, 4.01 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) to try and clinch the road series win. He had been pitching well earlier in the season, but the bottom has dropped out, and he is 0-3 with a 6.99 ERA across the past seven starts, issuing 15 walks with a 1.41 WHIP in the 28 1/3 IP span. The Braves counter with RHP Bryce Elder, who is just 5-9 with a 5.89 ERA and 1.52 WHIP overall in 20 starts, and he is a tick worse lately, posting a 6.00 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across his past 39 IP in the previous seven starts. While we might not get a slugfest like we had on Monday night, the Over is a good bet for a second consecutive game with two very giving pitchers meeting one another in the ATL.
