I lean towards the over on the posted game total in Wednesday’s matchup between the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Angels. Nick Martinez is set to start for the Reds in this matchup, and he is coming off a very poor outing against the Brewers in his last appearance. Martinez allowed 5 earned runs with an additional unearned run surrendered in his 2.2 innings of work. The right-hander has had an up-and-down season for the Reds with solid stretches halted by poor outings like this. Martinez is capable of shutting down an opposing lineup like the Angels but with a 4.73 ERA I am not scared away from the Angels given their power sources.

Yusei Kikuchi is scheduled to start this game for the Angels, and the southpaw hurler is my preferred starting pitcher in this game. That being said, I don’t expect a clean start from the left-hander as the Reds offense is a competent unit. Kikuchi has seen his production drop a bit of late, seeing his ERA jump from 2.81 to 3.52 within his last 7 starts. In that span he has allowed 3 or more earned runs 6 times and I expect the Reds to score some runs in this spot.
