Cleveland Guardians vs Atlanta Braves Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/10/26

The Guardians took 2 out of 3 games from the Royals in Cleveland earlier this week and after a day off Thursday, they will travel to Atlanta to face yet another tough National League opponent in this young season having already played the Dodgers and Cubs. The Braves also had a day off Thursday, which was greatly needed considering they just traveled back to the east coast after a week out west in Arizona and Los Angeles – where they won 4 of 7 games. 

Taking the mound for Cleveland will be Slade Cecconi, who is 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA through 2 starts. Most of that damage came in Seattle in the opening series of the season when he was tagged for 6 earned runs on 6 hits in 4.1 innings. His 2nd start was much better – a 6-inning performance in which he held the Cubs to just 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 6. The Guardians hope that version of Cecconi shows up tonight. For what it’s worth, he still induces ground balls nearly 50% of the time and boasts a swinging strike rate north of 11%.

For Atlanta, Bryce Elder will take the hill, and the right-hander has yet to allow an earned run this year. Through 13 innings, he’s allowed 9 hits and 2 walks, striking out 13 along the way. A 0.00 ERA is unsustainable, but a 1.75 xERA, 2.38 xFIP and 2.47 SIERA suggest his dominance is no fluke. Through 2 starts, he’s yielded a 0.0% barrel rate and has induced swinging strikes 11% of the time. 

These offenses have shown high ceilings this week, but I’m siding with the pitchers in this matchup. Given the dominance of Elder and the rebound performance of Cecconi in his 2nd start, runs could be at a premium on Friday night. Not to mention, the bullpens will be rested with the mutual day off Thursday; Atlanta boasts the best bullpen ERA in the league.
