The right-hander is known for his control of the zone and his ability to rack up strikeouts, both of which are appealing to me from a betting perspective. Injuries have prevented him from having a full season, but in his 71.2 innings of work, the right-hander has maintained a 2.64 ERA. With 11 innings and 2 earned runs in his 2 starts since returning from the IL, Lopez appears to be in strong form entering this matchup.

Parker Messick has begun his career in elite form, allowing just 6 combined earned runs across his first 29.1 innings of work. Those 29.1 innings have spanned just 5 starts, as the pitcher has been able to work deep into ballgames for his club. He now faces a Minnesota lineup that traded away several key pieces during the trade deadline, and are now a watered-down version of themselves. I lean towards the under in this game.
