Cleveland Guardians
Game Totals Pick
Over 7.5(-120)

The Cleveland Guardians surprised the San Francisco Giants in Tuesday’s interleague series opener, winning 3-2, spoiling the debut of Rafael Devers. The victory snapped a three-game slide for the Guardians after they were swept by the Seattle Mariners over the weekend, getting outscored 17-5. It was also a rare win against a left-handed starting pitcher. Now, Cleveland gets to face old friend RHP Justin Verlander, who the Guardians know well from his days with the Detroit Tigers, and more recently, the Houston Astros, in the American League.

Verlander is 24-24 with a 4.42 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 57 career starts against Cleveland with three complete games, including two shutouts. He is coming off the 15-day injured list to start the game after dealing with a pectoral muscle injury. The 42-year-old is searching for his first win of the season, entering play with an 0-3 record, 4.33 ERA and 1.40 WHIP across 10 starts for the Giants. The wind will be blowing out to due center field at a 13-16 mph clip, which is bad news for Verlander, who could be a little rusty, struggling with his location after the layoff. It’s bad news for Cleveland LHP Logan Allen, too, who has a 4.28 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with three homers allowed in his 2 June starts. Go Over.

Guardians vs Giants prediction: Over 7.5 (-120) at time of publishing. Playable to -140.
