Colorado Rockies vs Houston Astros Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/27/25

The Colorado Rockies and Houston Astros continue a series on Wednesday evening, the second game of three. The Rockies surprisingly took the first game, 6-1, on Tuesday. You can actually get plus money for the Rockies +1.5 on Wednesday, but I just do not want to be in that business when it comes to the Rockies. Instead, I think the play in this game is the game total under 8, and that is where I am looking.

This mostly comes down to whether Framber Valdez gets his act together or not. Valdez has been on the struggle bus for a couple weeks now. His box score from last game looks awful too, but most of his damage came in a single inning. That game looked to me like a man who was very much on the verge of figuring things out. It should help that the Rockies’ offense is more or less inept, especially away from home. They barely scored over the weekend, and Tuesday’s 6-run outburst feels like an anomaly. Meanwhile, the Astros haven’t exactly been great with the bats either, and they will face rookie Chase Dollander. Dollander has struggled at times this season, but there is still a lot of upside here, if he can tap into it. I also like that neither team used its best bullpen arms on Tuesday, so that should add to the likelihood of the under if those guys get into the game on Wednesday. Give me the under.
