Rockies vs Blue Jays Pickswise Expert Predictions

Run Line Pick
TOR Blue Jays -1.5(-120)

The most surprising score on Monday night was Colorado’s 14-5 win in Toronto. The Rockies somehow only hit 2 home runs, but tallied 17 hits – highlighted by 3-hit performances from both Ezequiel Tovar and T.J. Rumfield. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays tallied 5 runs on 7 hits, though most of the scoring came in the last 2 innings.

The Blue Jays will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they send Max Scherzer to the mound. The savvy veteran had a very solid spring, throwing 13.2 innings without an earned run. He gave up 4 hits and 5 walks along with 9 strikeouts in those outings. As for the visitors, Ryan Feltner will toe the rubber, but he hasn’t had much success in the majors – carrying a career 5.19 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. With equally bad xFIP and SIERA, I don’t expect Feltner to suddenly become a quality pitcher. In fact, he was dreadful in Spring Training, allowing 13 earned runs on 16 hits with 14 strikeouts and 7 walks in 13.1 innings. In all, he finished spring with an 8.78 ERA and 1.73 WHIP.

At 41 years old, Scherzer may break down as the year goes on, but being so early in the season, I’m expecting Mad Max to have his best stuff – like he did in the spring. Look for the Blue Jays to flip the script tonight and pile on runs while the Rockies struggle to score.

Rockies vs Blue Jays prediction: Blue Jays -1.5 (-120) at the time of publishing. Playable to -125.
