Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/24/25

The Detroit Tigers are skidding hard, and they’ve ended up frittering away a gigantic lead in the American League Central Division. Detroit entered this series with a slim one-game lead in the division, about Cleveland picked up the 5-2 win, dealing the Tigers a seventh consecutive loss. The Guardians have clinched the season series, so if there is a tie atop the division at season’s end, Cleveland now has the tiebreaker. Detroit lead by 14 games in this division on July 9, but with five games left in the regular season, it’s now a dead heat. Now, the Tigers turn to RHP Jack Flaherty to try and turn things around.

Flahertyhas managed a dismal 8-14 record, 4.60 ERA and 1.28 WHIP across 156 2/3 IP in 30 starts. He is an innings eater, but he isn’t terribly effective. In his past seven starts, he has a 4.71 ERA with 11 walks in 36 1/3 IP, and he lost his last start in Detroit last Wednesday. On the road, Flaherty is even worse, going 3-6 with a 5.20 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 64 IP in 13 starts. The Guardians hand the ball to RHP Tanner Bibee, looking to grab the team’s first lead in the division. He is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA in two starts against the Tigers, allowing just a single run and seven hits in 13 IP against Detroit this season, and the Tigers are hitting just .152 against him. Cleveland looks like a strong play yet again.
