Detroit Tigers vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction, Odds and Picks for Saturday, 05/03/25

The Detroit Tigers have won the first two installments of this four-game set against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim. The Tigers rolled to a 10-4 win Thursday behind RHP Casey Mize, while pounding the Angels 10-4 on Saturday behind 2024 American Cy Young Award winner LHP Tarik Skubal. Now, the Tigers turn to RHP Jack Flaherty looking to keep up the good work. Flaherty has been a little homer-happy lately, coughing up four bombs across the past 15 2/3 IP in his past three starts, all losses. But, he has limited the damage, allowing only nine earned runs. Unfortunately, the offense has gone quiet in those setbacks, providing just five runs of support, including two shutout losses. The Tigers are just 1-5 in Flaherty’s six starts to date despite the fact he has a very respectable 3.34 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.

The Angels offense has been rather toothless, posting four or fewer runs in 10 consecutive games, going for 2.3 runs per game (GPG) during the span. That should be the elixir to cure Flaherty’s ills, and get him back into the win column. The Angels have dropped seven in a row, and nine out of the past 10, slipping seven games under .500. Back Flaherty to pitch the high-octane Tigers to yet another win, getting Detroit to 10 games over .500 on the early season.
