Houston Astros vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/27/25
Astros vs Angels Pickswise Expert Predictions
There is a good chance that the Houston Astros could miss out on postseason play after leading the AL West for large stretches of the regular season. The team even bought some pieces at the trade deadline, but the Seattle Mariners bought more, adding Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez among others to bolster their already formidable roster. Houston, who has always had excess in pitching seemingly does not have that depth this season and they are utilizing another bullpen game spearheaded by AJ Blubaugh with their season on the line. Blubaugh is not expected to work more than 2 or 3 innings, and I am unsure their exact plans to follow him. That being said, their offense should be able to provide enough run support to win this game, in my opinion.
Caden Dana is set to start this game for the Angels. The 21-year-old tossed 82 innings in AAA with a 5.93 ERA and 5.91 FIP. Los Angeles saw those numbers and were impressed enough to make him an MLB starter before he appears to be ready. Through 25.1 MLB innings so far, the right-hander has allowed 6 home runs and issued 17 free passes, resulting in 18 earned runs. I am unsure why the Angels felt the need to rush him to the majors, but that seems to be their tendency with recent prospects. Regardless, I lean towards an Astros win at current pricing.
