I expect the Los Angeles Dodgers to roll in today’s matchup with the Houston Astros. Ben Casparius was knocked around in his last outing against the Kansas City Royals, but I am still a fan of the 26-year-old in his new starting role. He was a reliever to begin the season but countless injuries to the starting rotation opened a need for his role to expand. Casparius has showcased an ability to keep the ball in the park this season while also maintaining quality control of the strike zone. His underlying metrics are very strong, and I am a fan of him in this matchup today.

A matchup I am not a fan of in this game is Lance McCullers Jr. going against this potent Dodgers lineup. Lance is prone to losing command of the strike zone and that could be extremely problematic when facing this offense. His last 2 outings have both resulted in 4 walks allowed, allowing 4 earned runs to the White Sox and 8 earned runs to the Cubs in those outings. I don’t see how he can enter this matchup with much confidence, and I look for the Dodgers to score early and often in this spot.
