Los Angeles Angels vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 07/04/25

Eric Lauer and the Toronto Blue Jays are set to face off against Kyle Hendricks and the Los Angeles Angels on this 4th of July, and I favor the Blue Jays to win the game. Lauer began the season in AAA in a starting role before joining Toronto as a reliever. He then entered the starting rotation with the big-league club and has pitched pretty well in this role so far. Lauer has decent strikeout upside in a matchup against the Angels who allow a ton of 3rd strikes. While the Angels are likely to contribute a few runs towards the game total, Lauer is my preferred starter in this game.

Hendricks is not someone I trust in his age-35 season, as he has pitched like a 40-year-old since 2021 and yet continues to eat MLB innings. Los Angeles is utilizing his inning-eating capabilities this season as he has tossed 87 innings with a 4.66 ERA. Hendricks is in a new setting for the first time in his career after 11 years with the Cubs MLB roster. With just 60 strikeouts and 15 home runs allowed I am not a fan of Hendricks in most matchups, let alone against a team like Toronto that displays both plate discipline and a bit of power.
