I favor the Miami Marlins in their matchup with the Atlanta Braves on Friday evening. Miami had a very slow start to its season, falling as many as 16 games below .500. The Fish currently sit just 2 games below .500, however, as their youthful roster has found a groove and grown momentum as a group. Several young batters have progressed nicely and even grown into a budding star in the case of Kyle Stowers. Their pitching has also taken a step forward while rounding into health, and Edward Cabrera has been at the forefront of their success. The talented right-hander has been wild throughout the early years of his career but with only 4 walks issued across his last 35.2 innings of work has been very impressive. He has only allowed 9 combined earned runs in that span, as well, and he will look to deliver another impressive performance against Atlanta.

Bryce Elder allowed just 2 earned runs across 6.2 innings of work against the Reds in his last start, but that strong outing has not been typical for the right-hander in 2025. Elder has posted a 6.03 ERA in his 94.0 innings pitched while allowing 1.56 walks and hits per inning of work. He struggles to generate strikeouts or even whiffs with any sort of consistency, and despite a ground-ball rate that is above league average, there aren’t many other traits of his that are above average in MLB. Look for the Marlins to grab a win and continue their momentum.
