Miami Marlins vs New York Mets Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/29/25

Jonah Tong, the Mets’ 4th ranked prospect in their farm system, is set to make his MLB debut on Friday as New York takes on the Miami Marlins. Tong tossed 102 innings in AA this season with a 1.59 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. While he only made 2 starts totaling 11.2 innings in AAA, his production in that setting was enough for Mets brass to shoot up him to the majors. Tong has displayed extreme strikeout upside, and his potential is off the charts. While it is hard to make an MLB debut for a team hunting for a playoff spot, I expect Tong to deliver a solid MLB debut.

Eury Perez struggled a bit to begin this month but has since delivered back-to-back strong outings including 6 innings of 2-run ball in a tough matchup with the Blue Jays last time out. In 70.2 innings this season the highly regarded arm has produced a 0.98 WHIP and we can expect his ERA to lower from his current 3.44 mark. This will be New York’s first time seeing Eury this season and I expect him to continue rolling.
