Eury Perez is back! The news of his injury that required Tommy John surgery broke the hearts of baseball fans worldwide as the young right-hander is one of the sport’s most talented players. Perez is still just 22 and countless arms have been able to bounce back from this surgery. While it may take time for him to regain his form, Perez is ultra-talented and someone I am always willing to bet on. He faces a Pirates offense that is lackluster to say the least. They do display patience at the plate, but their contact metrics are below average and they lack power as a unit. Perez likely won’t see an extensive leash in this outing, but he is still the preferred starter in this game.

The Pirates will send Mike Burrows to the mound for 4th time in his rookie season. Burrows will be 26 in November and has been in the Pirates organization since 2018, when he was drafted in the 11th round out of high school. The right-hander did pitch well in his last outing with 5.1 scoreless frames against the Astros in Pittsburgh, but his prior two outings resulted in 8 earned runs across 8.1 innings against Milwaukee and Arizona. Miami is not an offense I typically suggest backing, but they have not been the main issue with their ballclub’s struggles this season. I favor the Marlins at current pricing.
