The Milwaukee Brewers won back-to-back home series against the White Sox and Rays before winning a road series in Kansas City. They enter Monday with a 7-2 record as they begin their 3-game set in Boston. The Red Sox enter Monday with a 2-7 record, having lost each series they’ve played against Cincinnati, Houston, and San Diego. Boston has been arguably the most disappointing team so far, and their tough schedule continues with Milwaukee coming to town.

Both teams have used their high leverage arms often in recent days, and I would rather avoid the final 4 innings by focusing on the first 5 betting lines. I believe Milwaukee holds the starting pitching edge in Game 1 of this series with Brandon Woodruff and Brayan Bello taking the mound. Woodruff was lights out in 11 starts during the 2023 season before injury. He returned at the end of 2025 and impressed with a 3.20 ERA and 0.91 WHIP across 12 starts spanning 64.2 innings. He saw a short leash with only 67 pitches across 5 innings in his debut. Woodruff looked good, though, striking out 6 Rays across 5.0 innings of 2-run ball.

Bello had impressive strikeout production during spring training, but did allow 9 earned runs in just 14.1 innings. His season debut was in Houston where he lasted just 4.1 innings, allowing 5 earned runs and an additional unearned run. The Astros registered 8 hits and drew 3 walks off the Boston right-hander, and until he proves better form I am not willing to back him, or Boston.
