Milwaukee Brewers vs Chicago Cubs Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 10/08/25
Brewers vs Cubs Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the NLDS by a 9-3 final score. They followed that performance up in Game 2 with a 7-3 win. Now the series shifts venues with the Cubs playing host in Game 3 Wednesday evening. Chicago obviously needs a win to regain ground in the series, and they will turn to veteran right-hander Jameson Taillon. Taillon posted a 3.68 ERA in his 129.2 innings during the regular season. His first postseason appearance of the year resulted in 4 scoreless frames against the Padres. He enters in good form, but this will be his 4th time seeing the Brewers lineup this season. Given their 2-0 series deficit, Taillon could have a very short leash in this matchup.
Taillon is fully capable of delivering solid innings for the Cubs in this spot, but Quinn Priester is my preferred starter in this matchup. Priester took a major step forward in 2025 for the Brewers, pitching 157.1 innings with a 3.32 ERA. Milwaukee lost his final regular season start of the season, but that snapped a streak of 19 consecutive starts that he made where the Brewers won. Clearly several factors go into winning a ballgame at this level, but Priester’s consistency and poise should help Milwaukee’s chances of grabbing a commanding 3-0 series lead. At current pricing I side with the Brewers.
