Pirates vs Brewers Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Milwaukee Brewers scored 14 runs themselves yesterday against Paul Skenes and the Pittsburgh Pirates, but Wednesday’s matchup between the teams has a posted game total of just 7.5. Not only is the total low, but I lean towards the under as Mitch Keller and Brandon Woodruff square off. Keller draws a tough matchup against a Milwaukee offense that is in good form, but Keller is a competitor and someone that has succeeded in this spot before already this season. Keller faced Milwaukee back at the end of May, delivering 6 innings of 1-run ball with 7 strikeouts recorded. I backed Keller’s strikeout prop in that matchup as there are some favorable aspects of his approach that matchup nicely against more patient lineups, and I expect him to compete once again in this spot.
Woodruff is the real star of this game, however, and he is the main reason I lean towards the under in this matchup. The Pirates were shut out yesterday by Freddy Peralta and company and Oneil Cruz left the game early with a head injury. This is an already weak Pirates lineup that is now further watered down, and they draw Woodruff in good form. Woodruff enters this game with no more than 2 earned runs surrendered in any start, and a 2.29 ERA through 35.1 innings pitched.
