Padres vs White Sox Pickswise Expert Predictions
I’d like to think that Michael King will find his groove before the postseason, for the sake of Padre fans, but I am not willing to bet on the right-hander until he does so. King enters Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago White Sox having allowed 8 earned runs on 4 home runs within jus 3 innings of work against the Mets in his last start. His first start back from the IL resulted in 5 innings of 2-run ball against the Reds, but both runs allowed were on solo home runs. That means King has allowed 6 long balls in just 8 innings since his return, and while the White Sox are not my favorite offense to back, they should be able to contribute towards the over in this game.
Sean Burke is set to start this game for Chicago, marking his 27th appearance of the season. Burke has a 4.29 ERA through his first 126 innings of work but 62 walks within that stretch is worrisome when looking to back him. The right-hander has allowed 4 walks in back-to-back starts and has failed to reach 5 innings in any of his last 4 outings. Look for San Diego to get to Burke early on in this spot.
