Run Line Prediction

Seattle has some interesting hitting splits that are going to be tough to win with. They can hit homers (16th) but they are last in the league in batting average and OPS. The Mariners thought they had enough scoring on Saturday but the bullpen collapsed late, blowing a four-run lead before losing in extra innings. This team definitely does not have enough talent to squander opportunities like that.

The Indians come-from-behind win on Saturday gives them a great chance to complete a series sweep on Sunday. Rookie first baseman Bobbie Bradley is proving to be a great find and has hits in four of five games with more than half of those going for extra bases. Every bit of offense helps for this pitching-rich team. With enough hitting this team can be in the race all season long.

The Mariners are hoping Logan Gilbert can be a part of the rotation going forward. His numbers are not great this season but he has looked better in his two most recent starts. Cleveland hit him hard in his MLB debut on May 13–two homers in just 4.0 innings. Facing Shane Bieber is going to make it tough for Gilbert to beat Cleveland this time around no matter how well he pitches. Bieber has cooled after a hot start and you have to wonder if he might have been doing “something” to the ball, too, as he has only 12 total strikeouts over two starts in July. Even though Bieber might not be at his best, he is a tough arm to fade–especially in a game against a light-hitting team like Seattle. Take Cleveland.

Game Totals Prediction

Shane Bieber won the Cy Young last season and has been leading in strikeouts this year. He has been a little off of late though, so I am not expecting him to have his most dominant game of the year. I love the offensive momentum the Indians have from yesterday where they scored all five of their runs after the seventh inning. Look for that to carry over into this one. I am looking for Bieber to give up a few runs and then have the bullpen shut it down after that. The Indians get the five runs or more needed to get this one over off of Gilbert and company. Take the over. (7.5 available at publishing)
