I favor the Cincinnati Reds to pick up a home win Friday as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals. Cincinnati enters this game 4 games back from the final wild card-spot in the National League and must begin to string together some wins if it wants any hope of reaching the postseason. Zack Littell will start for the Reds today, making his fifth appearance with the team after being acquired from Tampa Bay at the trade deadline. Littell is a solid option for this Reds club and if he can limit the home run ball, which has been his biggest issue this season, he should produce a solid outing.

Matthew Liberatore is starting this game for the Cardinals and despite a very strong start to his season the southpaw hurler has not been in his best form of late. Liberatore has seen his ERA rise to 4.27 — and while he is still a decent rotational piece for St. Louis, he is no longer in elite form. The southpaw has allowed 3 or more earned runs in 3 straight outings. I expect the Reds to scratch across some runs in this matchup.
