St. Louis Cardinals vs Miami Marlins Prediction, Odds and Picks for Wednesday, 08/20/25

I favor the over on the posted game total in Wednesday’s matchup between the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals. Andre Pallante is set to make his 25th start of the season for the Cardinals and the right-hander has had some shaky results. Pallante has a 5.04 ERA while recording just 88 strikeouts to 44 walks issued in his 128.2 innings pitched. I am a fan of the over on his 1.5 walks allowed prop today but also think that the Marlins can do damage with the bat as they have been competent offensively against right-handed pitching since the all-star break.

Sandy Alcantara is set to start this game for the Marlins, and his 2025 production has been even worse than his counterpart. Alcantara has tossed 127 innings so far in 2025 with a 6.31 ERA to show for it. Just 97 Ks to 48 walks is not the type of ratio we have become accustomed to see from Sandy, and it is hard to trust him in his current form. Look for runs to be scored from both sides and the posted game total to be exceeded.
