Cardinals vs Pirates Pickswise Expert Predictions
Despite what appears to be advantageous hitting weather in Pittsburgh today, I am leaning towards the under on the posted game total between the Pirates and Cardinals. St. Louis will start Sonny Gray in this game after he delivered 11 strikeouts across a complete-game shutout last trip to the mound. That outstanding effort came against the Guardians, and he will now look to deliver a strong start against the Pirates as he takes them on for the 3rd time this season. Gray should take advantage of the Pirates patient approach as I expect him to throw strikes early and often and live ahead in counts.
Mitch Keller is slated to grab the ball for the Pirates, marking his 18th start of the season. Keller is a bonafide workhorse at this point in his career, eating innings with the best in the game and producing several quality starts along the way. Mitch has pitched well against the Cardinals in their first 2 matchups this season and I look forward to him doing so once again in Wednesday’s matchup.
