Rangers vs Pirates Pickswise Expert Predictions
If my dad or his dad were to see Mitch Keller’s 1-9 record they would assume he is having a horrid season when in reality the right-hander has pitched pretty well for the Pirates this season. Keller has made 15 starts this season while delivering a quality start in 11 of those outings. Among those 11 quality starts 6 of them have resulted in 2 or fewer earned runs and no win. That is the 2nd most in MLB this season behind his teammate Paul Skenes who has 8 of those outings.
The anemic Pirates offense has prevented those starters from far better-looking records, but I do expect a few runs from their offense today given their favorable hitting conditions. Both offenses benefit from 90-degree temperatures in this game but the Pirates face Kumar Rocker who has been very hit or miss this season. He tossed 5 scoreless frames against the White Sox in his last start but that was in Texas with the roof closed and he required multiple mound visits so he could take pickle shots. Rocker was severely dehydrated in that start and now has to face a patient lineup in extreme heat.
