Nationals vs Braves Pickswise Expert Predictions
While not my favorite game from a betting perspective on Wednesday’s loaded slate of action, I do lean toward the over on the posted game total between the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves. Bryce Elder is in good form by his standards right now, but the Braves’ starter is still not an arm I trust at this level. Elder has posted a 5.36 ERA in his 149.1 innings of work, so even if his form is better right now, we have a large enough sample of his struggles. Washington is not the toughest of lineups to face, but I expect them to contribute to the total in this spot.
Andrew Alvarez tossed 5.0 scoreless frames against Miami in his MLB debut, followed by 10.2 innings of 2-run ball against the Pirates and Cubs. His last start was less successful, however, allowing 8 baserunners in 3.1 innings of work with 6 of them crossing the plate and 4 of them being earned against his record. The southpaw hurler still has a very small sample size at this level, but I expect the Braves to score a few runs off him before the Nationals’ bullpen enters the game.
