NBA Player Props Today: October 23 Best Bets & Picks, featuring Zach Edey and Kris Dunn
The NBA has not disappointed three days into the season. After the Cavaliers and Nuggets played last night, all 30 teams have officially suited up for the 26-27 season. Heading into Friday Night, a massive 12-game slate gets our weekend started with Prime Video headlining a doubleheader with Knicks-Celtics and Rockets-Spurs. Let's dive into my best NBA player prop bets for Friday, October 23. You can also get our expert NBA picks for all 12 games, as well as every matchup throughout the 2026-27 NBA season.
Best NBA Player Prop Bet: Kris Dunn (LAC) Under 16.5 pts/rebs/asts (-114)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -120.
We're jumping right to the West Coast, as the battle of L.A. gets started two games in. Both the Clippers and Lakers are coming off 20+ point wins, with their stars leading the way. I'm going away from the norm and fading one of the better role players in the NBA, Kris Dunn, who is known for his defense and dislike towards Luka Doncic – his likely matchup on Friday Night. The two have had their run-ins, dating back to 2023 when both were on different teams. Just last year, Dunn was ejected from a game against the Lakers. Focusing on our player prop, we're fading Dunn after a two-of-five performance from three-point range in his season opener, along with five rebounds and seven assists. At just a 13% usage rate and a tough assignment on defense pulling him away from the basket, we'll slide with the under on Dunn's PRA prop of 16.5 on DraftKings.

Best NBA Player Prop Bet: Zach Edey (MEM) Under 22.5 pts/rebs/asts (-116)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
It looks like another season of the Memphis Grizzlies rotation featuring 10+ players. That was on full display on Opening Night, as 10 players touched the floor in the first quarter. Though that will likely not be the case all season long, shorter stints could be the norm for injury-prone big man Zach Edey. Edey played just nine first-half minutes, finishing with 21 minutes in a game in which it looked like he might sit most of the second half due to the blowout win over the Jazz. All five starters for the Grizzlies had a +/- of at least +19, with ROY favorite Cameron Boozer leading the way.
The test will be much tougher on Friday Night on the road against the Warriors, who can go small and pull Edey away from the basket. Like the Warriors, the Grizzlies have the pieces to run small-ball lineups, which could hinder Edey's playing time. Let's fade the big man and hope we see another conservative approach with Edey in terms of playing time.
