Hawks vs Suns Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Under 233.5(-110)

Both the Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns are red hot heading into Sunday’s showdown in Phoenix. The Hawks have reeled off 4 consecutive victories, while the Suns boast an even longer winning streak at 5. Phoenix is really putting the clamps down defensively, which is part of the reason why my Hawks vs Suns pick is Under 233.5. The Suns have held 4 of their last 5 opponents to 103 points or fewer, including 2 under the 100-point mark. At the other end of the floor, Grayson Allen’s absence will hurt. Allen, who is out with a quad injury, is averaging 18.5 ppg. Without him, Dillon Brooks is Phoenix’s second scoring option. Brooks is scoring 20.3 ppg, but that is only because he is forking up almost 16 field-goal attempts per contest. He does not shoot it particularly well from the floor or from 3-point range.

Atlanta’s backcourt is also depleted, as Trae Young has missed most of the season and will likely be sidelined through November. Without Young, the Hawks are a far more defensive-minded team. They have contained 3 of their last 4 opponents to 102 points or fewer. Atlanta is right in the middle of the pack in terms of pace, which probably wouldn’t be the case if Young was on the floor. Phoenix is even slower, ranking #23 in pace (103.0 possessions per game). All things considered, it’s the under for me.

Hawks vs Suns prediction: Under 233.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable to 232.5.
