That pretty much sums up the Brooklyn Nets since the calendar year 2026 started. This team clearly isn’t focused on winning right now, aside from a couple of occasions where they’ve caused teams issues, they are losing games by double-digits on most nights. One of the teams they caused problems to are the Denver Nuggets who they beat 127-115 at the beginning of January, that’s one of the two wins they’ve recorded this year. Michael Porter Jr. got his revenge in that game with 27 points, he was helped by 5 other Nets who scored in double-figures.

I’m hoping Denver has learned a thing or two from that defeat, losing the regular season series to arguably the worst team in the league is simply not an option. Nikola Jokic wasn’t available in the first meeting, he’s been missing for a while now and the team has been able to stay afloat despite all the turbulence along the way. Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon also remain out, while Jonas Valanciunas and Jamal Murray are both game time decisions. Having Murray would make picking the Nuggets a lot easier here, he’s been enjoying an All-Star type of season putting up a career high 25.9 points per game.

Denver enters this one having won 8 of 12 games, while the Nets are on a streak of 8 consecutive road defeats. After the tight defeat against the Pistons, I’m of the opinion that the Nuggets won’t take this match-up lightly. The loss in the first meeting was a warning in itself, even if Murray doesn’t play I expect them to even things out with a big win here. Go with the home team.
