Reasoning

Things have returned to normal for the Cavaliers after that surprising loss to the Miami Heat last week. Since then they’ve dropped 149 and 122 points in their next 2 games, on Tuesday they’re looking to win a 3rd game in a row taking on the Los Angeles Lakers. This will be the 2nd and final meeting between the two sides, the Cavs thoroughly dominated the 1st one 129-99 back in late January. They forced 16 turnovers and out-rebounded the Lakers by 10, it was just one of those nights where the opposing defense just didn’t show up. Despite that dominant performance and a 5-2 ATS/SU run in head-to-head meetings, the Cavs go into this one as slight underdogs and that just shows how good the Lakers have been lately.

LA will also be playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back here, they took care of business against the lowly Wizards 120-101 behind a triple-double from LeBron James. LeBron stepped into the role of the leader in Luka Doncic’s absence, but the superstar Slovenian is back swiftly in the line-up after serving a one-game suspension due to him picking up his 16th technical foul against Brooklyn. A rested Doncic is something to be fearful about if you’re the Cavaliers. The last 10 meetings have seen him average 30.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 9 assists per game on over 52% from the field and 43% from three. Let’s also not forget that Cleveland has a defensive liability at the point guard position, so it could very well be one of those nights for Doncic here.

If the Cavs had Jarrett Allen at their disposal I’d consider backing them here, but without him the defense could struggle against Luka here. He had plenty of time to rest and recover ahead of this game, I quite like his match-up against Harden who is a sub-par defender. It’ll be a fun game to watch for us neutrals, but I give a slight edge to the Lakers to win their 10th home game in a row.
