Pistons vs Celtics Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
DET Pistons -3.0(-110)

The Detroit Pistons are an absolute wagon. They boast a 15-2 record, the best in the Eastern Conference and the second-best in the entire NBA behind only defending champion Oklahoma City. The tables have turned in the East, in part because the Jayson Tatum-less Boston Celtics (9-8) are one of the former powerhouses on the way down — at least temporarily until Tatum returns either at the end of this season or next. When these 2 conference rivals collide on Wednesday evening at TD Garden, my Pistons vs. Celtics pick is on the visitors to win and cover.

Detroit has won 13 games in a row since beginning the 2025-26 campaign with a 2-2 record. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s squad has won 6 consecutive contests by at least 5 points. Former #1 overall pick Cade Cunningham is playing at an MVP level, averaging 27.1 points, 9.6 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Three of those marks are career highs, and the rebounding number is just 0.2 behind his best. Cunningham is getting a ton of help, too, with a whopping 7 other guys on the roster scoring in double-figures.

It is a much different story for Jaylen Brown of the Celtics, who is a borderline 1-man show these days without Tatum. Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford also left during the offseason. Derrick White, Payton Pritchard and Anfernee Simons are doing their best to contribute, but those 3 players aren’t significant difference-makers. The temporary demise of the Celtics cannot be overstated. Their starting lineup includes Jordan Walsh and Neemias Queta. Unless you are a basketball diehard, you are probably asking, “who?” This team is not terrible, but it’s far cry from the Boston of recent seasons. Moreover, Brown has not been able to throw it in the ocean this month. He is a disastrous 14-for-57 (24.6 percent) from 3-point range in 11 November outings.
