Lakers vs Suns Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
LA Lakers -1.0(-110)

Consistency has eluded Luka Doncic and his Lakers since the start of December. In 5 games played they’ve exchanged wins and losses, earlier this week they laid an egg at home against the Spurs which cost them a place in the NBA Cup semifinals. They’ll look to redeem themselves on Sunday facing a Phoenix team that beat 125-108 at the beginning of the month. In that game the Lakers were favored by 6.5 points, but a heroic effort from Dillon Brooks ended a 7-game win streak.

Speaking of Dillon Brooks, both he and Devin Booker are listed as questionable here with minor knocks so it’s unclear which starting unit the Suns will field here. Whoever comes out though, I feel like the gameplan won’t change too much compared to that first meeting of the season where the Suns knocked down 17 threes and forced 21 turnovers. That’s the one Achilles heel of this Lakers team, they rank 24th in opponent made threes per game and they also allow the 4th highest percentage from downtown as well.

Doncic’s mini hiatus has undoubtedly played a part in the Lakers losing to San Antonio on Wednesday. Things should stabilize moving forward. He had 9 turnovers vs the Suns when they last met, I’m sure that game has been stuck in his head ever since it ended. Expect better from him and his Lakers here, I’ll back LA to get the job done on the road against a potentially wounded and shorthanded Suns side.

LA Lakers vs Phoenix Suns Predictions: Lakers -1 is available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
