Los Angeles Lakers vs Sacramento Kings Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 10/26/25

It’s an all California affair in Sacramento on Sunday as the Lakers and Kings square off for the first of four regular season meetings. The story of the young Lakers season has been the play of Luka Doncic who became only the 4th player in NBA history to start the season with back-to-back 40+ point games. Unlike in the season opener where his team wasted a 43-point performance, Luka’s 49 point output actually made a difference as LA got revenge on Minnesota for eliminating them in the postseason last year. The team in purple and gold might need another game like that from their Slovenian superstar as they take on the high paced Kings who are looking for their 2nd home win of the year.

Zach LaVine is also off to a hot start to the season with back-to-back 30-point games, his Kings just beat Utah in what was their first win of the year. That’s an encouraging sign for a team many people expect to flop early, due to chemistry issues. Sunday’s game against the Lakers could have a positive impact on the team’s psyche, especially if Russell Westbrook can have a great game off the bench with the Kings winning. Russ was often labeled as the scapegoat for the Lakers failure to have success during his tenure there. Knowing the player that he is, I wouldn’t be surprised if he went for 30 points here, if he gets off to a hot start early. The Kings haven’t had much success in head-to-head meetings, covering the spread just 4 times in 14 games.

This game has the potential to be one of the better ones in the first week of the NBA season. There will be no shortage of scoring, as both teams will look to run. With Luka at the point I expect the Lakers to be one of the higher scoring teams in the league. The two teams have averaged 239.5 points per game in the last 10 meetings. I’ll be looking into the points market here and backing the over in this one.
