Point Spread Pick
NY Knicks -8.0(-110)

December has been a month to forget for the Miami Heat so far as they’ve dropped down all the way to 7th in the East standings thanks to a run of just 1 win in 7 games. The strong offensive performances that got the Heat to a 14-7 SU start to the season are no longer there, which is surprising considering they just got Tyler Herro back from injury which in theory should have been a net positive. The three-point shot has gone ice-cold during this stretch, we did see sings of improvement in the loss to Boston the other day as the Heat connected on 19 threes, however they still lost by 13 points.

Meanwhile, the Knicks are enjoying one of their best starts to a season at 19-8, capped off by an NBA Cup Final win. Fans at MSG have been spoiled with 13 wins in 15 games so far, one of those losses happened a couple of days ago against the 76ers 116-107. New York was in the game for the most part, but ultimately they just ran out of energy after a grueling stretch of travel and games. With that scheduling loss out the way I expect a bounce back performance vs the Heat who did beat the Knicks earlier this season. You just know this team will want to get revenge for that defeat, the difference in quality is one the Knicks’ side here and they won’t allow the Heat to go up 2-0 in the regular season series.

Until the Heat sort out their offensive woes I am not touching them. They also have Davion Mitchell, Andrew Wiggins, Tyler Herro, Pelle Larsson and Nikola Jovic all on the injury report. New York is a reliable 10-3 ATS over their last 13 games, they’ve also beaten the Heat in 6 straight at MSG. Back the Knicks
