Heat vs Magic Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
ORL Magic -5.5(-110)

Friday marks the second of 3 head-to-head matchups between the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic between the start of the season and December 9 — all in Orlando. This is also the first leg of a back-to-back situation for the Heat, who will host Sacramento on Saturday. Next Tuesday’s showdown between these 2 teams is a quarterfinal contest in the NBA Cup. Given that they are banged up, have 2 games in a row, and won’t want to show much to the Magic with a more important matchup coming up next week, the Heat just might throw in the towel on Friday. As such, my Heat vs. Magic pick is for the home team to win and cover.

Tyler Herro (toe) is questionable, as is Norman Powell (ankle). Miami may be inclined to rest both of them for the first leg of the back-to-back and have them ready to go for a game it should win — at least at full strength — against the Kings on Saturday. The Heat have played well this season, but they have dropped 2 of their last 3 outings — including by double-digits to Dallas on Wednesday. The Magic are 3-1 in their last 4, 6-2 in their last 8 and 9-3 in their last 12. Paolo Banchero (groin) could return for the first time since November 12. Right now the smart play is on Orlando, but I would proceed with caution. In fact, I would not make any play on this game until the statuses of Banchero, Herro and Powell are officially confirmed.

Heat vs Magic prediction: Orlando Magic -5.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
