Pelicans vs Suns Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
PHX Suns -8.5(-105)

The New Orleans Pelicans will travel Monday night to take on the Phoenix Suns. The Pelicans have a record of 2-7 this season and a record on the road of 1-5. The Pelicans have won two of their last three games, but they did lose their last game 126-119 against the San Antonio Spurs. Trey Murphy III led the Pelicans in scoring with 41 points, but New Orleans could not overcome the absence of Zion Williamson, Jordan Poole and Dejounte Murray. All three of those players will be out again tonight. The Suns have a record of 5-5 and a record at home of 4-1. They have won four of their last five games and are coming off a 114-103 win against the Los Angeles Clippers. Devin Booker led the team in scoring with a near 21 point triple-double, and Dillon Brooks added 16 points in his return from injury. It was a two-game set against the Clippers and the Suns won both games. They will look to continue that momentum into tonight’s game.

After starting the season 1-4, the Suns have found momentum and are playing good basketball. This year was supposed to be a transition season as the team moved on from Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, but this team has shown they may have the talent to be competitive this season. The only setback for the Suns in their recent victories was the reinjury of Jalen Green’s hamstring. He will once again be sidelined and the Suns will look towards Grayson Allen to fill his position. But the good news for Phoenix is they are by far the healthier team heading into this game. Without their three best players, New Orleans ranks in the bottom-five of the NBA in offensive and defensive rating. Without Murray and Poole, it has pushed nineteen-year old Jeremiah Fears into a starting role he may not yet be ready for. Fears is averaging only 27% from three this season, and he could struggle with turnovers tonight against a tough Suns’ backcourt. The Suns have been their best at home this season, and I like for them to continue their run.
