Phoenix aims to end a 2-game slide on Monday as they visit the Los Angeles Lakers. This begs the question – are they able to pull off a surprise in LA tonight? Judging by their performances in recent meetings, they might very well do so. Jalen Green is their only relevant absentee at the moment, all the shooters that got the Suns to a 12-9 SU record are pretty much healthy and available.

The Lakers are enjoying life right now. They’re 2nd in the West with a 15-4 SU record and currently on a 7-game win streak following last night’s win over New Orleans. Despite the win over NOLA, they failed to cover as 14.5 point favorites which was a bit surprising. The defense will have to step up a bit if they want to get a result on Monday, over their last 4 of 5 games they’ve allowed 121, 119, 118 and 126 points. It’s all well and good when you’re able to counter those type of numbers with better ones offensively, but there will come a game where the Lakers simply don’t have it going offensively. Monday could also see LeBron James and Marcus Smart return to the line-up after they both missed the Pelicans game.

I have a sneaky feeling the Suns might get a result here. One of the weaknesses of the Lakers is their lack of perimeter defense. Phoenix makes the 6th most threes while shooting the 5th highest percentage. They consistently make 14 or 15 threes on a nightly basis, I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here and back a outright Suns victory.
