For the 2nd straight game they are in New Orleans to take on the Pelicans, after last night’s 115-108 win. Devin Booker continued to fill it up with 30 points, despite struggling a bit with his three-point accuracy lately. He just enjoys playing against this team, the last 10 meetings have seen him average over 33 points per game, in 3 of those he went over 50 points. Through 30 games the Suns are the league’s most successful team against the spread – they’ve covered in 66.7% of games so far.

Interestingly enough the Pelicans are right behind the Suns on that list, covering in 19 of 32 games so far, good enough for 61.3%. That’s quite a stat considering they’re just 8-24 SU on the season and rank 14th in the West. Defense is what’s cost the Pels the majority of games this season, they’re allowing 122.6 points per game, only the Kings, Jazz and Wizards have a worse defensive rating. They did have that 5-game win streak just a while ago which came out of nowhere, this team has been very unpredictable so far this season.

Adjustments will be made by the Pelicans after last night’s defeat, these baseball series usually end in a split more often than not. I am a bit hesitant to back Phoenix due to their fall off in shooting from three-point land, they rely so much on that shot. The Pelicans have recently beaten teams like Portland, Houston and Dallas, so why not give them the benefit of the doubt to at least cover here?
