Spurs vs Knicks Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
SA Spurs +2.5(-110)

The San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks will battle in the NBA Cup final on Tuesday evening in Las Vegas. That’s right — the Thunder are not a part of the festivities. Oklahoma City suffered just its second loss of the season this past Saturday, falling to San Antonio 111-109 in the semifinals. I expect Victor Wembanyama and company to remain red hot, so my Spurs vs Knicks pick is for the slight underdogs to cover a +2.5 spread. Playing without Wembanyama for 12 games may prove to be a blessing for San Antonio in the long run, as it had to grow up fast with the former #1 overall pick sidelined. And that is exactly what it did. The Spurs went an extremely impressive 9-3 without Wembanyama before he returned against OKC last weekend. Now at full strength, they just might be one of the best teams in the association — as the Thunder found out the hard way.

There is no denying that the Knicks are also playing great. However, they can be somewhat vulnerable against difficult competition. Their 4 most recent losses have all come to opponents currently seeded in automatic Eastern Conference playoff spots (ahead of the play-in). Now New York has to face arguably the second-best team in the Western Conference. Moreover, the pressure is on the Knicks now that it has suddenly and unexpectedly become the Cup favorite with OKC out. As for the Spurs, with 2 full days off they will be well recovered from the emotional high of such a huge victory over the Thunder. Give me San Antonio to cover — and I would make a smaller play on the money line, as well.

Spurs vs Knicks prediction: San Antonio +2.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable to +2.
