Framber Valdez (HOU) to record the win (+115)

Available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Jordan Lyles versus Framber Valdez. This game should be fun. Valdez cashed for us on Monday by going 7.0 innings and allowing just 4 hits. I’m backing him again against the Kansas City Royals, who are hitting at a bottom-10 rate in baseball against LHP in the last 30 days.

Suppose this is your first time betting “to record a win” props, then welcome. A pitcher must pitch at least 5.0 innings, exit the game with a lead, and have the bullpen hold onto the lead for a win. Or the starter could pitch a complete game, of course. Luckily Valdez has a great chance to pitch into the seventh inning today with a taxed Astros bullpen that has been used heavily the last 2 days. After recording 17 wins last season, Valdez has dipped to just 11 this season with only a handful of starts remaining. But it doesn’t get better than this. Seven of his 11 wins have come on the road, while Jordan Lyles has just 4 wins in 28 total starts.

Lyles will have his hands full against an Astros offense that ranks at the top of the league in batting average against RHP in the last 30 days. The core of the Astros lineup has seen Lyles in their career multiple times; that familiarity should result in plenty of runs across the plate today.
