We’re coming down the home stretch of the NHL regular season. That means we’ll be monitoring playoff races as teams look to clinch their spots. However, it also means teams are taking this time to try things out. That could be different line combinations, and not just for teams that are eliminated. Other teams that are comfortably in position can also take these last 2 weeks to test things out ahead of the postseason. That can make player props a bit more difficult to predict. Thankfully, we’re here to analyze everything for you, and we have our 2 favorite spots to target for today’s action. Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for tonight’s matchups.

You can bet on these NHL player props with FanDuel, America’s #1 sportsbook, which has the best odds available and a great sign-up offer where you can get a no-sweat first bet up to $1,000! Click here to take advantage of this offer and gain access to tons of odds boosts on site.

Blake Wheeler over 0.5 assists (+100)

The Winnipeg Jets are heading back home to Canada after a quite shocking result. They were recently shut out by a bad goaltending team in the St. Louis Blues. However, the Blues are now going with the 22-year-old goaltender Joel Hofer, who has allowed just 2 goals in 77 shots across his 2 starts. While that threw the Jets a curveball, they can bounce back on home ice tonight against the Arizona Coyotes.

Normally, we’d be able to get Wheeler’s overall point prop at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, that’s not the case when playing a bad team at home. Regardless, we’re still very comfortable with his assists prop. He skates alongside a volume shooter in Kyle Connor and teammate Mark Scheifele is just 2 goals away from a 40-goal season. So, Wheeler has plenty of options to dish out a helper. He’s also had at least a point in 4 straight games against Arizona. Again, we’re comfortable targeting Wheeler’s assist prop specifically, as he has just 107 shots in 62 games. Therefore, we’ll trust that he sticks to finding the real shooters to score the goals tonight.

Brandon Hagel over 0.5 assists (+150)

Both of our plays revolve around skaters that are not the household names of their teams. While Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning routinely come through for us, so does Hagel. He skates on the top line with Kucherov, who just reached yet another 100-point season. That means plenty of opportunities for Hagel. He and the Lightning will be facing off against the Montreal Canadiens for the 2nd time in just 3 days.

We targeted Brayden Point to score a goal on Sunday, but admittedly, he did not come through. That’s primarily because Hagel decided to have a career night and take the goals away from everyone. He notched himself a hat-trick en route to a 5-3 Lightning win. That obviously demonstrates the risk of targeting his assist prop tonight, but if you think all of his points will once again be goals, then that prop is of course available as well. The fact remains that he skates alongside 3 elite goalscorers in Kucherov, Stamkos and Point. Even if Hagel does find the back of the net, the Canadiens have been playing badly enough that he can easily record both. Hagel has also had at least a point in 4 of his last 5 games against Montreal, and they’ve looked bad enough where that should continue.
