We’re back with a full 4-game slate for tonight’s Stanley Cup Playoff matchups after a couple of lighter evenings. However, that’s still far fewer games than we’re used to in the regular season. Therefore, you may not be seeing a lot of money lines or totals you love. Similarly, it can be much more difficult to predict full game outcomes in the postseason. With that in mind, we’re here with another way to approach the games. We’ve found our top spots for NHL player props, and they both involve elimination games.

Mats Zuccarello over 0.5 assists (+100)
Our NHL player props are focused on games with teams on the brink of elimination. In fact, that’s the case for all 4 series, one of which is in Minnesota. The Wild are now down 3-2 against the Dallas Stars, but it’s been arguably the most back-and-forth series in the first round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Therefore, it would only be fitting for it to go to a Game 7. One skater that can help them potentially do that is Mats Zuccarello. Teammate Kirill Kaprizov gets the majority of the attention when it comes to the Wild, and rightfully so.
In fact, that plays a key factor in this NHL player prop. Kaprizov is an elite goalscorer whom Zuccarello can link up with to record an assist. That has been his calling card on the top line with Kaprizov for quite some time. There’s no denying that the Stars have a strong defense, but Zuccarello has still performed. He has at least a point in 4 of the 5 games and an assist in 3 of them. Similarly, he had a point in 3 of their 4 games against Dallas in the regular season. Of his 67 points this season, 45 were assists, so we’re comfortable targeting that market for tonight’s elimination game.

Tyler Bertuzzi over 0.5 points (-130)
Our second skater is taking part in another elimination game, but it will be his team potentially doing the eliminating. The Bruins had the chance of doing so on home ice on Wednesday night but fell to the Florida Panthers in overtime. Now they’ll need to bounce back, I’m focusing on Bertuzzi to help them do so. That may seem surprising given superstars David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron will be on the ice. However, Bertuzzi has been a great addition since joining the team from the Detroit Red Wings at the trade deadline. He’s earned the right to be on the top line with Pastrnak, who had an incredible 61-goal regular season.
Similarly, he’s also on the first power-play unit with those superstars and Charlie McAvoy. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Bertuzzi has been performing in these playoffs. He had 2 assists in Game 1 of the series, and then had at least a point in each of the games in Florida. The series is shifting back to South Beach tonight, so that bodes well for Bertuzzi as well. He’s also been consistent for his new team — Bertuzzi was with Boston for 21 games prior to the postseason and recorded 16 points. With all the elite talent around him, I’m trusting that consistency to continue in a potential series-clinching game.
